Types Of Visa Applications

Family Visas

Different types of family visas for the UK are available depending on the applicant’s relationship with the sponsor in the UK. People who can apply for the family visas include a spouse or partner, fiancée or proposed civil partner or a relative who requires long-term care, of a person residing in the UK on a settled status or has British citizenship. The application for a family visa must be accompanied by supporting documents providing the applicant’s relationship with the sponsor. If a person is already living in the United Kingdom on a different visa, he can switch to a family visa.

Visitor Visas

This visa category is sought by nationals of foreign countries who intend to come to the United Kingdom for a short period. The need to make an application under this category depends on the nationality of the individual, the length of stay and the purpose of the visit. Under the Visitor’s Visa category exists several specific visitor’s visa types that grant the applicant entry for the purpose of holidays, short term study, marriages and many others. The validity period of such visa is generally 6 months, but in some cases, it might be for longer periods up to 1, 2, 5 and 10 years.

Student Visas

The student visa to the United Kingdom is available to the applicants who are of the age 16 or above and wish to attend a higher education course in the country. In the post-Brexit environment, both EEA nationals and non- EEA nationals will need to have an unconditional offer from a licenced sponsor to be eligible for the visa. Those who graduate from an approved course in the UK will be able to remain in the country under the new Graduate Visa route for up to two years to live, work and look for work. PhD graduates will be able to do so for up to three years.

Indefinite Leave to Remain visa, or ILR status, is an important step in the process of obtaining British Citizenship for the UK. It is a type of residence permit settlement that allows a person the right to live and work in the United Kingdom without any kind of restriction.
